The Commission on the Status of Minorities of AEJMC (Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication, at 3,500 members the largest group of such scholars in the world) investigates and proposes ways to achieve racial and cultural diversity in academic media programs and curriculum as well as the profession’s content and workforce. Founded in the early 1970s, CSM has been an important advocate for multiculturalism in AEJMC plus the applied and theoretical sides of the media industry. The commission co-sponsors the annual Barrow Award and Barrow Scholarship with the Minorities and Communication Division. Contact CSM Chairman Kyle Huckins at khuckins@csmdiversity.org.
